You don’t need a credit score to purchase a car. Save up and pay cash. Put what would have been your car payment in the bank. You’ll have enough to by a better car in no time and not pay a dime in interest.
You will never get ahead financially making payments.

A credit score of around 700 should get you financed. You interest rate will be high though and they’ll probably want you to have a big down payment.
